Tech with Good Manners.
Polite and The Slow Web Initiative are Tariq Krim's brainchild, a European Tech entrepreneur (Netvibes, Jolicloud), a vocal advocate for a more human and Privacy centered Internet.
We have combined the Polite platform with the Slow Web Initiative; a think tank focused on the Internet's ethical future.
Rehabilitate neutral and platform-agnostic tools for our digital lives.
In 2008, while most people were celebrating the rise of mobile and Cloud monopolies, we were concerned that a handful of platforms could privatize the Internet we loved.
It's the reason why we launched the JoliOS, and the Jolibook to offer a platform-neutral device alternative to connect to our life online.
Our ideas were ahead of their time: we were the first consumer platform to offer a web-based computer (two years before the Google Chromebook) and one of the first companies to put privacy and ownership of your data at the center.
The project was discontinued after the Paris attack.
After a long disconnection, we decided to launch Polite and the Slow Web Initiative to help build the next chapter of the digital revolution: an ethical renaissance of the Internet.
